CONSULTANCY FOR IMPROVING THE PRODUCT QUALITY

The Indian refineries have been in the process of upgrading the Quality of Fuels in the recent past to meet the stringent specifications laid down by the local authorities. The current specifications in vogue are equivalent to EURO-III and soon , it is planned to revise the quality specs. to EURO-IV equivalent. Such demands on improved product quality are also laid down by World Charter on fuels and the Clean Air Act. Based on these requirements, various schemes and modifications cum additions have been incorporated in the refineries and an active road –map has been drawn to meet the future requirements for Gasoline and Diesel fuels.

To fulfill the above requirements, studies on the existing refineries have been carried out with the help of consultants to identify the gaps and to find an optimum solutions. It is pertinent to add that based on the configurations of the refineries , the approach and the requirements are unique in nature. The exercise involves modifications to the existing units, addition of new units such as Isomerisation, Hyrdrocrackers, Hydrotreatres,etc.  Studies are carried out to arrive at implementable plans at optimum time and costs. The impact on the refinery operating philosophy and shutdown schedules has also been revised accordingly.
