REFINERY OPTIMISATION STUDIES:

Keeping in track to be cost effective, PII members have been exercising various options to meet the objectives.In this regard, performance improvements in the refineries have been identified by systematic studies which have led to significant improvements in profitability. Such exercises have been carried out independently by the refineries as well by taking support form the consultants as and if required. Hence the experience gained by PII members is immense.

Based on the assessment of the current operations, benchmark is established on the performance which forms the basis for identifying the gaps and for further studies on areas of improvements. The focus has been in areas such as energy optimization, loss control, yields improvements and on line optimization, etc. The recommendations are classified as “Quick Wins” requiring Nil to small investments and those requiring large investments with longer gestation periods. Effective monitoring systems is established for  the improvement progammes identified.

Such studies and programmes have been carried out in Refineries of Bharat Petroleum Corporation, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation, Indian Oil etc.
