Some of the salient features of the Plant Data Base are indicated below : Integrated plant data to provide effective support to user functional groups i.e. Maintenance, Technical Services, Material, Operations and other related functions. Convenient and quick information retrieval to users of the above mentioned functional discipline while maintaining data integrity.

Facilities for creation, updation, viewing, printing and plotting depending on the access privileges. Adequate security measures and access control.

Graphical user interface (GUI) with point and click features, providing non-linear navigation and interactiveness through P & IDs as well as other menu options.

Object linking and Embedding (OLE) features which enable all types of plant information independent of data format or platform to be maintained in an integrated manner. Facility to include scanned drawings and documents which will help in storing and retrieving the vendor-documents or old drawings which are normally available in paper-form Provision of suitable indices and reference numbering for such documents which are not available on-line and are stored as archives.

Designed on a modular approach, it is possible to begin with a package using basic functionality and later expand the scope by adding new components or data.
